Helping Hear, Learn and Thrive

At Little Ears Matter CIC, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our specialist community support includes ear health clinics, family events, educational audiology and family support, all of which empower children and their families with the knowledge, confidence and practical skills they need to thrive—at home, in school and in their communities.

Our Mission

At Little Ears Matter, we understand the unique challenges that come with hearing difficulties, and we’re here to make a difference.

Our mission is to bridge the gap in services for children and young people, who despite facing these challenges, are having to wait for months for support or do not meet criteria for support at all. We are committed to ensuring that everyone with a hearing difficulty receives the specialist support they need without delay.

Little Ears Matter CIC was founded by listening to families. Their experiences of navigating the NHS and education system inspired us to create a service that puts children and their families first.

Join us in empowering every child to succeed!

What We Do

Specialist Advice and Support for Families of Children with Hearing Loss
Information, guidance and peer support for parents/carers of children with diagnosed or suspected hearing needs, including families of deaf children as well as those navigating Auditory Processing Difficulties (listening concerns). Talks about remote microphone technology and available support to ensure best outcomes for children with hearing needs.
Events for Children with Hearing Needs and their Families
Our half-termly events create opportunities for children to make friends, build confidence and develop positive self-esteem, while parents and carers can connect, share experiences and access specialist support and advice. Families also have the opportunity to access our community ear health clinic during selected events, where children can have their ears checked and receive further ear health support where needed.
Free Ear Checks and Earwax Removal for Children
Our ear wax removal service is designed to prevent build up of impacted wax and reduce long waiting times for young learners in Birmingham and surrounding areas. Our core service is delivered in a local hospital ENT department. If your child needs earwax removal and you are concerned about the long waiting time, you can book our service now and our Educational Audiologist, certified and experienced in safe ear wax removal, will deliver it at your home without delay.

Cost: free in the clinic*

*we will ask for a small donation for home visits only
Hearing Technology Advice and Loans

We help children get the most from their hearing technology at home, at school and in the community. Families can access specialist advice on hearing aids, cochlear implants, remote microphone systems and other assistive listening technology.

Where available, we also provide short-term loans of hearing technology, giving families the opportunity to try equipment and experience the potential benefits before exploring longer-term options.

Transforming Lives

Hear from professionals who worked with Anna, our founder and Educational Audiologist:

‘We worked closely with a parent who was unsure how to use their child’s radio aid system   at home. The Educational Audiologist provided us with clear guidance and resources, which we then shared with the parent during a home-school meeting. We demonstrated  how to pair the radio aid with the child’s hearing aids, how to check it was working, and how to use it during daily activities such as reading together, family events and going to the park.

Impact on the child:

The child began using their radio aid consistently at home, which significantly
improved their access to clear speech in different environments, reducing
listening fatigue and frustration. The parent reported that their child was
more confident in joining family conversations and following instructions, and
the child returned to school happier and more settled, ready to engage in
learning.’

                                                                                                                                          Lead Teacher of the Deaf

‘Anna has had a huge impact on the number of
children using loops in school. She explains carefully to the children what is
happening and why they will; be of benefit. The step by step approach she uses
to explain and the process she takes them through is differentiated to meet
individual children’s needs and develops their confidence at managing their own
technology.’

‘Having the chance to work with Anna has greatly increased my confidence and understanding.’

Jenny S., Teacher of the Deaf

‘What Anna does is break down the barriers that stop our children
from accessing the world of independence.’

                                                                                                                Qualified Teacher of the Deaf

‘Anna regularly utilises her expertise to support children with their devices,                                                                       inform them of the process to develop their self advocacy

and trains/supports families who wish to develop their independence

in managing their child’s deafness; promoting a life of independence and pride.’
